A tragic two-vehicle crash in Liverpool Township, Columbiana County, claimed the life of a 63-year-old woman and left two others seriously injured Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:09 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, along U.S. Route 30. Emergency responders from multiple agencies rushed to the scene after reports of a serious rear-end crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck.
Preliminary findings from the Ohio State Highway Patrol indicate that a 2007 Buick Rainier was stopped while traveling westbound, positioned partially on the left shoulder and partially in the left travel lane, when it was struck from behind by a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.
The front-seat passenger in the Buick, Joyce M. Snider, 63, of East Liverpool, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death has left family, friends, and members of the East Liverpool community mourning the sudden loss of a loved one.
The driver of the Buick, Stacy L. Click, 42, also of East Liverpool, suffered serious injuries. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she remains under medical care.
A child who was also riding in the Buick sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by STAT MedEvac to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Officials reported that the child’s injuries are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, Neil A. Gilbert, 23, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, sustained minor injuries in the collision.
The crash prompted a large-scale emergency response involving numerous local and regional agencies. Personnel from the Liverpool Township Police Department, Saint Clair Township Police Department, East Liverpool Police Department, East Liverpool City Fire/EMS, Liverpool Township Fire Department, Glenmoor Fire Department, Calcutta Fire Department, Negley Fire Department, Lifeteam EMS, Northstar Critical Care, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office all responded to assist at the scene.
First responders worked to provide emergency medical treatment to the injured, secure the crash site, and safely manage traffic while investigators documented evidence and cleared the roadway. Their coordinated efforts helped ensure that those injured received immediate medical attention.
As crews worked throughout the afternoon, both lanes of U.S. Route 30 were temporarily closed, causing traffic delays in the area. The roadway was reopened later in the day after emergency personnel completed their work and the damaged vehicles were removed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision, and authorities have not released any information regarding possible contributing factors, including speed, impairment, distraction, or mechanical issues.
The loss of Joyce M. Snider has deeply affected the East Liverpool community, where loved ones are remembering her life while offering prayers for Stacy Click and the injured child as they continue their recovery.
